27/01/2010; Letter from our Church Secretary

Dear Friends,

I wrote last evening to the members of Fivehead Baptist Church but now share this letter with all the Church family-

TO THE MEMBERS OF FIVEHEAD BAPTIST CHURCH

Firstly, thank you for attending the Special Church Meeting last night your honesty and openess with each other when we met to consider the calling of our prospective Pastor to Fivehead. Although it was a long evening, I hope that every member felt that they could be fully engaged and heard by all others present and that the Holy Spirit was certainly present in our deliberations.

The ballot resulted in a narrow mandate for our prospective Pastor to be called and Paul Douglass contacted him last evening to report the outcome. Overnight, our prospective Pastor has prayerfully considered, but feels that he should not accept the invitation extended by the Deacons as although the invitation was carried, there remained approximately one third of the members present feeling unsure or voting against.

Although it would be perfectly possible for our prospective Pastor  to come, in such cases where there is not a significant majority or unanimity, those considering their calling would feel uneasy that their call might not be right.

Whilst I know there will be great disappointment for many, I ask that you continue to seek Gods will for us as a Fellowship and recognise that the process of prayerfully and earnestly seeking together will be honoured by Him when the time is right. Simon has added his thoughts below and I hope that they will help us all come to terms with the outcome. Let us continue to love one another and fix our eyes upon Jesus.

Adrian

Journeying with God and seeking His will is not always easy either as an individual or as a church; and your prospective Pastor's  decision not to accept the call offered by the Church Meeting will bring mixed feelings.

As a church you have acted with a gospel spirit and integrity to date, especially in the church meeting, and I would want to encourage you to continue in that way and ask you to hold on to Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,....plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I look forward to being amongst you again soon

"IN CHURCH" COURSE

The Alpha course which ran from 23rd September to 2nd December has been a great success and at the Church meeting (07/12/09) it was agreed that we should alternate "In house" bible study with "In Church" learning every other week. Please check with Paul Douglass as to where we will be.

Philip Yancey's "What's so amazing about Grace" Commences 19th January 2010 in the Church at 7:30PM.

Church Building alterations 03/03

03/03/2010 We are arranging a meeting with experts within the BU to ensure we do not submit plans that the planners may reject. When the final plans are submitted they will be displayed in the Church.

22/02/2010; Adrian, Keith and Steve (Cutts) will be meeting the architects on the 23rd Feb to progress the Church building alterations.

30/01/2010; I have been asked to lead the church buildings alterations, the aim of which is to make our church more comfortable, useable, practical and an asset to Fivehead village.

The first step will be an exhibition of the initial plans in the Church from Sunday 7th February.

The current thinking is to provide a safer staircase to upstairs, a covered area between the church and the outbuilding, refurbishment of the outbuilding to provide;

A) A small village coffee shop.

B) A youth area.

C) An office for our pastor.

There will be a facility for writing suggestions from the 7th and I will be available to discuss what is important to you and see if it can be included.

Every blessing; Keith Peto.

Diet Club

Diet club

The Diet club meets on Monday mornings at 10am for an hour...which includes line dancing practice!!.

We meet for a chance for a weigh-in, chat over a coffee and a chance to share diet tips.

All welcome. Contact Wendy Cutts for more information or just come along.

Fellowship breakfasts

Our Fellowship breakfasts are held once a month.

They are a time to meet with like minded people to chat and take time to pray.

Because they start at 09:00 and normally finish around 10:00 they hopefully don't "interfere" with other essential activities that all busy folk need to do over a weekend.

Come and join us, we don't bite.

Well we do, but only if you are a sausage or a slice of bacon! ;o))

We are investigating inviting guest speakers, so watch this space!! Dates are;

6th February; Mens breakfast

6th March; Whole Church breakfast

3rd April; Mens breakfast
